Commission Original Artwork
The artist generally works from your own photographs.
The better the photograph, the better the artwork (particularly for portraits). When your photos have been received the artist will contact you to confirm whether they are suitable.
If you can't provide photos, please contact the artist to discuss alternatives.
All original artwork and all Fine Art Prints are signed by the artist. They are supplied 'Conservation Mounted' in double mounts with a backing board, using archival quality materials throughout, ready to drop into the frame of your choice - simple! Custom framing is available upon request
If you questions about any part of the commission process, please do not hesitate to ask.
Send photographs (several if possible) of the person or pet to be featured in the portrait (tips below).
NOTE. You should contact the artist even if you do not have any photographs - arrangements can often be made.
The artist will then contact you to discuss your requirements and to let you know whether the photos are suitable.
There is no charge for this consultation process, and no committment to place an order.
In fact you will not pay anything at all until you have approved the finished portrait.
You view the finsihed artwork and notify the artist of your approval (or not).
If you like the portrait you pay by credit card, cheque or cash on collection (your choice).
You may, now or later, order prints, greetings cards or other stationery featuring your portrait.
Your portrait order (including any prints / stationery) is despatched, and your photos returned.

The basic portrait price is for a single individual. If you require more than one person or animal in the portrait, please contact the artist to discuss what you need, and send photos as below:
Send separate photos of each individual
Also send a group photo if possible (this shows their relative sizes)
Photos can be sent either:
as E-mail high quality digital images (in jpeg or bitmap format please)
by post as photographs or digitally on a photo-CD
All photographs / discs will, of course, be returned.
SATISFACTION GUARANTEED: View and approved the artwork before paying.
You can approve the completed portrait via email or on a private page on the website. Please understand that the image inadequately represents the colour and detail of the actual artwork.
Alternatively you may arrange to view at the studio, and pay on collection.
When you have approved the artwork, and payment has been received, the artwork will be mailed to you. Subsequent uses of the artwork (such as printing onto invitations, cards etc) are paid for in advance, because the image has already been approved.
Art Portraits can make reproductions for you, either as Fine Art Prints or as a range of stationery for Weddings and other special occasions.
However, the copyright of all images, including commissioned artwork made from your own photographs, belongs to the artist. This means that it is illegal for you to reproduce the artwork yourself.
Instead of ordering prints from ArtPortraits, you may prefer negotiate to use the image for a specific purpose, or to buy the copyright from the artist. In this case please contact the artist.
SPECIAL EVENT STATIONERY & PORTRAIT GREETINGS CARDS
Commissioned Artwork can also be printed onto personal invitations, cards etc.
YOUR PRIVACY IS ASSURED - although the copyright of your portrait remains with the artist, portraits of people will not be used for resale, unless authorised by the person commissioning the portrait and also by the person featured in the portrait.
If you are considering using the portrait for any stationery products we recommend that you tell the artist when you order the original portrait.
Choices for Special Event Stationery include:Commissioned Portrait (or commissioned watercolour) of your choice on front of card
Wording of your choice on front
Your Personalised text inside the card (optional)
Your choice of wording layout (optional)- you may even provide the layout as a text or image file by arrangement
Special "Thank You Cards" Service
If you order portrait 'thank you cards' you can supply a handwritten thank you message which we will then reproduce inside the card - more personal than a standard message printed using a standard typeface. You may supply the handwritten text on paper or as an image file via email or post.
Special "Addressing Service" or "Address & Post Service"
If you are particularly busy, and you order a full set of Wedding Stationery including Thank You cards, we will:
Address all your 'invitation envelopes' for you!
Address all your 'thank you envelopes' for you!
Again, the addresses can be printed in your own handwriting or in a standard typeface.
